Urologix® Cooled ThermoTherapy

The Technology

Cooled ThermoTherapy delivers precisely targeted microwave energy to heat and destroy enlarged prostate tissue, while a unique cooling system protects the surrounding healthy tissue. Energy is delivered through a microwave catheter that is inserted into the urethra and held in place with a location balloon, which inflates in the bladder. An antenna within the microwave catheter delivers a controlled dose of microwave energy. Simultaneously, cooled water is circulated through outer channels in the microwave catheter, protecting the urethra and maximizing long-lasting treatment results by making deeper heat penetration possible. Treatment time is approximately 30 minutes.

Variable Treatment Temperature Algorithm

The CoolWave system incorporates a touchscreen interface and increased processing power that enable urologists to customize BPH treatments for individual patients. It is easy to use and empowers urologists to tailor cooled, high power microwave treatment for each patient.
